About This workshop
This hands-on workshop explores the intersection of DIY electronics and environmental stewardship, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities within Oregon's diverse ecosystems. Participants will learn to source local, upcycled materials to construct robust IoT sensor nodes capable of monitoring various environmental parameters like air quality, water purity, or soil moisture. We'll cover fundamental concepts of microcontrollers, basic coding for data acquisition using platforms like ESP32, and practical methods for deploying these sustainable devices in real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper connection to local ecosystems. Bring your creativity and a desire to make a tangible impact with technology, no prior extensive coding experience required, but basic electronics familiarity is a plus.
