About This workshop
This intensive intermediate workshop focuses on developing and deploying AI-powered vision systems for small autonomous drones. Participants will gain hands-on experience with popular microcontrollers, sensors, and machine learning libraries to enable object detection and navigation in complex environments. We will cover topics from camera integration and data acquisition to model training and deployment on embedded hardware, specifically tailored for applications like high-altitude mapping and wildlife monitoring in Colorado's unique alpine regions. Attendees will work in small groups to build a prototype vision module, culminating in a practical demonstration of their system's capabilities for navigating simulated wilderness scenarios, fostering critical skills for future drone developers and AI engineers.
