About This workshop
This immersive workshop focuses on practical applications of Internet of Things (IoT) technology for environmental sustainability. Participants will gain hands-on experience designing and deploying low-power sensor networks capable of monitoring conditions vital to Oregon's natural resources, such as soil moisture, air quality, or energy consumption. We will cover microcontroller programming (e.g., ESP32/Arduino), sensor integration, data logging, and cloud connectivity, emphasizing energy efficiency techniques crucial for remote deployments. By the end of the day, attendees will have built a functional prototype, understanding how to leverage IoT for positive ecological impact and sustainable development within the region.
