About This workshop
This intensive, hands-on workshop dives into the practical application of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and artificial intelligence at the edge for environmental sustainability. Participants will learn how to select, deploy, and calibrate various environmental sensors suitable for the unique New Mexico high desert climate, focusing on metrics like soil moisture, temperature, and solar irradiance. The curriculum covers programming microcontrollers for data acquisition, setting up local data processing with edge AI models, and visualizing real-time insights to inform sustainable practices. Attendees will leave with a foundational understanding of building robust, low-power monitoring systems, equipped with the knowledge to implement their own projects for agriculture, wildlife tracking, or renewable energy optimization.
